Over the three decades that the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society has been defending marine wildlife on the high seas, we have been very careful on who we work with to encourage support for our efforts. We care about on what and where we spend our supporters' funds and we never lose sight of the fact that our objectives are why we raise contributions in the first place. In all those years, we have only been involved in direct mail fundraising with Paul Seigel. Why? Because we trust him and he is sensitive to our unique approach and to our concerns. Captain Paul Watson It's been almost 20 years since I first heard of Paul Seigel. He had a reputation as a political fundraiser and was referred to me by the owner of Direct Mail Systems. I was skeptical but intrigued, as political organizations are highly successful at raising money. I hired him as our International Director of Development in 1988. In May 2003, Animal People published 10-point Code of Ethics for animal charities & fundraisers.
